The thirteenth day of the Islamic month of Rajab is recognized as a highly important and especially significant day throughout the history and upbringing of the Islamic faith. This glorious day, Muslims gather to celebrate the birth of their beloved Imam Ali (peace and blessing be upon his soul) and moreover, this explains why this day is so truly special and memorable in the Islamic year. Imam Ali was the son-in-law of the dear prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon his soul). During the Islamic years of 656 to 661, darling Imam Ali ruled over the Islamic caliphate

Sunni Muslims believe Imam Ali is the fourth and final Imam and a rightful successor to Muhammad. Historic records indicate that during the prophet Muhammad’s time, Imam Ali was the only person born in the Kaaba sanctuary in Mecca (located in Saudi Arabia). The Kaaba is acknowledged by Muslims as the holiest place on Earth. Shia’ Muslims, however, believe Ali is the very first Imam sent by the Lord, Allah. Imam Ali had two devoted and kind-loving parents – his father was named Abu Talib and his dear mother’s name was Fatima bint Asad. Imam Ali was raised in the home of the prophet Muhammad who, too, was raised by Abu Talib. As a matter of fact, Abu Talib was the prophet’s beloved uncle

You may be wondering to yourselves, “why exactly was Imam Ali so loved by many and hated by none?” Imam Ali dedicated his entire life and devoted himself completely to the cause of Islam! Without the beloved Imam Ali, Islam would not be the civilized, magnificent and worldwide religion it is today

The prophet Muhammad passed down a sacred and divine revelation sent from Allah (the most gracious, the most merciful) to Imam Ali. Furthermore, dear Ali spread this holy and sanctified message to all the peoples and creations of the Lord. Fatimah, the daughter of the prophet Muhammad then joined in holy matrimony with Imam Ali, due to the fact that Allah had ordered Muhammad to wed them

Throughout the whole ten years that the prophet Muhammad led the community and peoples to Medina from Mecca, dear Imam Ali was extremely active in his service and duties as he led parties of warriors on battles and carried messages and orders. Imam Ali took part in almost every battle fought in defense of the early Muslim community and sacrificed himself for us today

Nevertheless and most importantly, Imam Ali is respected for his courage, knowledge, belief, honestly, unbending devotion to Islam, equal treatment of others, generosity, forgiving attitude and loyalty to the prophet Muhammad

Tragically, while praying in the mosque of Kufa, the cherished Imam Ali was attacked and brutally killed in the Islamic year 661

Finally, Imam Ali is considered and remembered as a kind-hearted, benevolent, righteous, intelligent and loyal Imam who thoroughly embraced his pure soul, good heart and wise mind. Peace be upon his as he is remembered and his life is celebrated by Muslims all over the globe. His blessed words remain written in the ‘Nahj Al-balagha’ for all to recite and adore his beautiful recitations

 در پناه مولا موفق باشيد.
